Bericht über die Entwicklung der Marktbedingungen für konventionelle Biokraftstoffe

This study analyses how Germany’s national emissions trading system and other policies shape the market for conventional biofuels made from food and feed crops. It tracks volumes, feedstocks and prices of key fuels such as biodiesel, HVO and bioethanol, and compares them with fossil fuels. The findings show that, despite CO2 pricing, conventional biofuels remain more expensive than fossil fuels and their use is driven mainly by regulation (THG quota), not by market incentives. The report also highlights limited sustainable biomass potentials and growing importance, and possible greenwashing risks of “advanced” biofuels based on waste and residues.
