GIZ Strategic Advisory Services on Industrial Decarbonization

Duration: Ongoing

Client: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

Project Team: FutureCamp Climate, The Climate Desk (TCD), GIZ

FutureCamp and The Climate Desk support GIZ in developing a structured and strategic approach for international cooperation on industrial decarbonization. The project involves designing a toolbox of consulting services tailored to support industrial decarbonization in selected sectors. As an initial step, the project establishes sector selection criteria, considering decarbonization potential, supply chain resilience, and geopolitical factors.

Key project components include:

  • Sector selection methodology: Developing a structured approach based on global and EU decarbonization trends, industrial emission data, and policy frameworks.
  • Deep-dive analysis of selected sectors: Conducting value chain analysis, technology readiness assessment, and policy gap identification for the chosen sectors.
  • Development of a modular toolbox: Creating guidance documents, best practice reports, emissions monitoring templates, and training materials for industry stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder engagement and consultation: Facilitating dialogue between German and partner-country industries, policymakers, and investors to align priorities.
  • Capacity building and knowledge dissemination: Organizing workshops and expert exchanges to support partner-country industrial sectors in implementing decarbonization strategies.

The project integrates insights from IPCC reports, EU regulatory frameworks, and industry roadmaps to identify high-impact decarbonization opportunities. The resulting tools and strategies are designed to support GIZ’s broader industrial transformation initiatives and strengthen international cooperation on climate mitigation.
